Ok guys I often tell anglers they should use medium action gear when angling for perch in the fall, the perch usually hit hard then, also a lot of pike, trout and silver bass will show up making the heavier gear helpful for fighting them, but there is another reason why in case you get one of these brutes.
Brute fish
I was there to net this fish and I took the picture, if you used light gear on this fish, two things would happen, your rod would break, or you will get spooled (fish runs off with all your line)
