Yesterday's Adventure

Hey people, went back yesterday for some crappie with some friends, I went with Steve and Jesse again, but I was lucky enough to meet up with my friend Bill and Inwook, we ended up with just over 20 fish again, with the most crappies caught by yours truly... Steve caught small big rockbass and a crappie, Jesse caught a few crappie and a couple of sunfish, I caught about 12 crappie and 2 sunfish, Bill caught 1 crappie, and Inwook got skunk... We where using Slip Floats again with small ice fishing jigs tipped with twister tails, tubes, plastic maggots and live maggots, most fish came on the twister tails, we set the float to about 5 feet on an average, but we where getting fish as deep as 7 feet and as shallow as 2 feet.

Crappie Fishing today

Hello, today I went out with some friends to try for some panfish (perch, sunfish, crappie) we did good once we found a spot, a small shore area with a good section of open water, and we got really lucky and landed on some fish, I caught a nice 9 inch perch (no photo) and a nice 10 inch crappie, my friend Steve caught a nice 8 inch sunfish which was a welcome surprise, our first area was still iced over for some random reason, for my rig I was using a slip float with an ice jig with a 1 inch plastic twister tail grub, and a plastic maggot, my friend Steve was using a slip float with a couple of weights and a small hook with a single plastic maggot.

Origin of my profile picture

Ok guys here is the origin of my profile picture, the fish was caught while spending 13 hours casting lures for salmon one summer night, the fish was caught at 7:45am and I started at 7pm the night before, I left at 8am with the fish, I really liked how the photo turned out as well that is why I chose it, the fish is a brown trout not sure on weight, but it is one of the biggest I have ever caught, I would go to catch another 15 that fall fishing with black coloured yarn.

Profile Pic

This other pic is an example of an average sized one caught, they are in my opinion one of the most colourful fish you can catch in port d.

Why you shouldn't use light fishing gear in Port D

Ok guys I often tell anglers they should use medium action gear when angling for perch in the fall, the perch usually hit hard then, also a lot of pike, trout and silver bass will show up making the heavier gear helpful for fighting them, but there is another reason why in case you get one of these brutes.

Brute fish

I was there to net this fish and I took the picture, if you used light gear on this fish, two things would happen, your rod would break, or you will get spooled (fish runs off with all your line)
